Marellen Drive

House painting is not new for Touch of Gloss. In 2007 we painted a stairwell and surrounds in high gloss black for a client in Glendowie. However the scale of this project dwarfs that in comparison.

The build of this home, with expansive views over Red and Orewa Beaches toward Kawau Is and Little Barrier, is more akin to building a boat. Working in conjunction with principal contractor Tim Smith of Coastbuild NZ, a team of boat builders lead by Jim Moore, with laminate schedules supplied by Adhesive Technology and coatings by Altex Paints, Touch of Gloss will be painting the roofs in a high gloss Matterhorn White and the western end feature wall in a Metallic Silver from DuPont. There is over 300m² of roof surface alone - more area than a 50m Super Yacht!

The roof panels are prepared off site in nearby Silverdale - CNC cut, placed on molds, fibre-glassed and painted to undercoat stage prior to arriving at the property.  To complicate matters much of the gloss painting will be completed through the winter, however for TOG this is not a problem as we have industrial size Heat Pump /Air Con units able to create an environment suitable to paint in.

This will be an ongoing project through the winter of 2011 with frequent updates.
